Moons Cycles History

In 1995, with the purchase of Moons Cycles in Newmarket, Robert Fella , after many years in the cycle industry, decided to “go it alone” He was confident he could make it work and in 1996 he was joined by Simon, his son.

Together, with ready smiles and a quick witted rapport between them, that’s exactly what they did. For the next few years the Newmarket shop grew in strength and by the end of 2003 they had two shops one, a roaring success, in Newmarket and one, newly established, in Ipswich.

The Ipswich shop was purchased from Thompsons Furniture and after a complete refit inside and out the shop came together, complete with two extentions to the original building and a car park at the rear of the shop.

The two shops flourished and so it was with much regret, in 2007, the Newmarket shop was sold and only Ipswich remained.

Robert and Simon now run the Ipswich shop together, as a family business should be, in a bright, clean, modern, uncluttered shop, where old fashioned customer service is still paramount.

Meet The Team

Robert

The “Big” man himself, although Semi-retired, “Rob” is still very visible within the shop and can be seen on a regular basis manning the tills or providing a wealth of advise and experience on the shop floor or in the workshop.

When he’s not in the shop Rob is quite active going to the gym 3 or 4 times a week, and has completed many personal challenges like the Milford Track in New Zealand and climbing Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. He has also hiked The Inca Trail to Machu Pichu in Peru. In 2010 Rob finally realized a dream and climbed to Everest Base Camp in the Himalayas.

Simon

Simon has worked in the family business for 15 years with his father, Robert. Initially in the Newmarket shop and in 2004 opened the Ipswich shop.

You can expect some friendly repartee from Simon but he is also very knowledgeable about cycling and is happy to assist in answering any queries you may have and helping you find the perfect bike and accessories for you needs.
